Pajarinranta childcare centre

Finland
The Pajarinranta childcare centre in Kemi has implemented the Helvar Insights service, based on the Helvar lighting control system. The Insights service allows remote management of the nursery’s lighting and, for example, monitoring of the occupancy rate of the nursery’s facilities using motion sensor data.
Helvar Insights enables significant energy savings and efficiency in lighting, for example through remote fine-tuning of light levels and functions that control the activity of motion sensors. These functions enable optimal lighting that is not only energy efficient but also improves wellbeing and comfort.
The data on building occupancy provided by the motion sensors serves end-users by providing reliable information on how the spaces are being used. This information helps to allocate space to different uses as and when required.
Helvar Insights, which analyses lighting, also sends automatic alarms from the lighting system to building maintenance, so that any lighting anomaly is detected as quickly as possible. Corrective action can then be taken even before the lighting failure interferes with the use of the premises.
The Pajarinranta kindergarten in Kemi is the first Helvar Insights site in the city.

The Pajarinranta kindergarten is the largest log kindergarten in the world. The kindergarten’s spatial solutions have been designed with an emphasis on flexibility and efficiency. Play and group spaces of different sizes provide a stimulating environment for children to play, exercise, be creative, and relax.
For electricity generation, a solar panel system is installed on the roof of the childcare centre to generate electricity to cover the building’s base load. Sound insulation between the spaces has been carefully considered in the design and construction of the building. For example, the ceilings and part of the walls of the rooms are fully acoustic.
The Insights service contract between Kemi and Helvar covers not only the Pajarinranta day-care centre but also two other sites, namely Kemi High School and Kemi Arena.
