Silk Road Samarkand, Uzbekistan
Uzbekistan
Samarkand, a jewel of the ancient Silk Road, has long been a crossroads of cultures, and a meeting point for merchants, scholars, and explorers. This city, steeped in history and adorned with architectural, ancient masterpieces included in the UNESCO World Heritage List, now welcomes a new chapter in its history: the Silk Road Samarkand tourist complex.
This ambitious project, a shining example of modern hospitality in Central Asia, captures the spirit of Samarkand’s past while embracing the needs of travelers – but not only them – this resort is a 260 ha area of unique multi-purpose resort that brings together cultural, medical, and business tourism.
Helvar Imagine, a human-centric lighting control system, expertly implemented by our local Partner HDC, addressed the challenge of ensuring a comfortable and inviting atmosphere for guests by providing customisable lighting scenarios for each area. By adjusting to natural daylight patterns and balancing colour temperatures, the lighting promotes well-being, improves sleep quality, and prioritises guest comfort.
Helvar innovative lighting control solutions, combined with deep expertise of Enter Engineering, the general contractor, enabled the successful and rapid implementation of the lighting management system at the Silk Road Samarkand tourist complex. This achievement not only ensured comfort and coziness for visitors but also significantly reduced energy consumption and carbon footprint, which was one of the priorities in the construction of the complex in the ancient city of Samarkand. – Sergey Voloshchenko, Regional IT Director at the Silk Road Samarkand
The sheer scale of the complex demanded an intuitive and easily manageable lighting control system. Hotel staff needed the flexibility to adjust lighting settings on the fly, catering to specific events or guest preferences. Helvar’s control systems, known for simplicity and scalability, provided a user-friendly interface for hotel staff. The system’s flexibility allowed for easy reconfiguration and programming of lighting scenes.
The project covered public areas and conference centers of eight international hotels: restaurants, lobbies and lounges, private dining and meeting rooms, offices, receptions, elevators, gyms, SPA, stores, foyer halls, and corridors.
With DALI, energy-efficient LED fixtures, using different lighting scenarios, and integrating with Building Management System (BMS), the Silk Road Samarkand complex significantly reduces its energy consumption and carbon footprint. The integration capabilities of the system, facilitate the maintenance of the building.
The use of motion sensors further optimises energy usage, ensuring that lights are only on when and where they are needed. This not only reduces operating costs but also aligns with the complex’s commitment to environmental responsibility.
The Silk Road Samarkand complex stands as a testament to prioritising sustainability and guest’s comfort, where history, culture, and technology converge to create a truly unique destination.
As guests wander through the sunlit corridors, dine under the glow of chandeliers, or attend conferences, they experience the magic of Samarkand in a whole new light. A light that not only illuminates the present but also paves the way for a brighter, more sustainable future.
