Modern lighting meets industrial charm at Pakhus 47

At Helvar, we’re proud to have contributed to the award-winning Pakhus 47 building in Copenhagen’s North Harbour, recognised as Building of the Year in the Commercial category. This historic warehouse, originally built in 1974, has been transformed into a modern business and cultural hub, retaining its rustic industrial charm while embracing contemporary design.

This transformation presented a unique opportunity to implement a cutting-edge lighting solution that respected the building’s heritage while meeting the demands of a modern workspace. Our valued partner in Denmark, Vanpee A/S, provided Helvar’s comprehensive lighting control system designed to enhance the building’s atmosphere and prioritise energy efficiency.
The key to this successful implementation was the Helvar Imagine 950 application controller. This powerful and versatile controller provided Vanpee with the flexibility to create a lighting scheme that perfectly complements the building’s unique architecture. The Imagine 950 allowed for precise control over individual lighting zones, enabling the creation of different moods and ambiences throughout the building, from bright and productive workspaces to more relaxed and inviting common areas. This granular control not only enhances the user experience but also contributes significantly to energy savings by ensuring lights are only used when and where needed.

To further enhance control and integration, 444D2 input units were installed in all rooms. These modules provide localised control of luminaires, giving occupants the ability to adjust lighting levels to their specific needs and preferences. This personalised control adds another layer of comfort and convenience for building users.
Seamless integration with the building management system (BMS) was achieved through a BACnet gateway. This crucial component ensured smooth communication between the Helvar lighting system and other building systems, allowing for centralised monitoring and control of various building functions, including lighting, HVAC, and security. This integrated approach streamlines building operations and further optimises energy efficiency.
