A smarter, greener parking experience

Centralen, a bustling hub in Gothenburg, has taken a significant step towards sustainability by implementing an innovative lighting solution. In continued collaboration with Helvar and Legrand/Ensto, the parking garage has optimised its energy consumption while enhancing the user experience, showing that the template that was set for P-Hus Focus was a winning concept for Göteborgs Stads Parkering.

A modern solution

The project integrated Helvar’s advanced ActiveAhead sensor technology to achieve these goals into Ensto’s Flip luminaires. This strategic partnership resulted in installing 500 intelligent lighting units, each equipped with the 5635 Multisense R44 sensor. These sensors, renowned for their self-learning capabilities and IP65 rating, are ideally suited for the demanding environment of a parking garage.

Energy efficiency and user comfort

The ActiveAhead sensors enable dynamic lighting control, automatically adjusting light levels based on occupancy and daylight conditions. This not only reduces energy consumption but also creates a more comfortable and secure parking experience for visitors. By implementing energy-saving strategies like reduced lighting levels during low occupancy periods and daylight harvesting, the project has significantly lowered operational costs.

A model for the future

The success of this initiative has paved the way for future sustainable lighting projects in Gothenburg. Centralen serves as a prime example of how intelligent lighting solutions can contribute to a greener and more efficient city. By prioritising energy efficiency, user experience, and scalability, this project has set a new standard for parking garage lighting.
