Futureproofing a healthcare complex with intelligent lighting

The Başakşehir Çam and Sakura City Hospital Project is Turkey’s third largest health investment project and provides services to İstanbul and its neighbouring provinces.

Planned to provide healthcare services for 23,600 patients, with a combined bed capacity of 2,682 and an indoor construction area of 1 million m2, the Başakşehir Çam and Sakura City Hospital is recognised as the “World’s Largest Seismically Isolated Building” with 2,040 seismic isolators installed in its main hospital building. With these cutting-edge isolators, the Başakşehir Çam & Sakura City Hospital is able to seamlessly carry out all of its operations, even during and after the most severe earthquake scenarios.

The DALI system comprises of:

264 x  Helvar 910 Router
109 x  Helvar 905 Router
320 x  Helvar 498 ( 8x16A Relay)
400 x  Helvar 494 ( 4x16A Relay)
180 x  Helvar sensors (312-329)
80 x  Helvar control panels

Helvar’s DALI-based solution was chosen for this project as it offers simple lighting control, making even the most complex of systems easy to manage. Intelligent lighting controls also serve as a great way to futureproof the space— offering connectivity to building systems and the ability to reconfigure lighting without costly and intrusive re-wiring. On top of this, the lighting system also offers the option to connect with other suppliers in the future, if needed.
As the largest project of its kind in the world, this seismically isolated hospital is certainly unique, and paired with a futureproof DALI lighting system, the building complex is now designed to truly stand the test of time!
