Shaping the future of work with Smart Building Technology

At Gårda Vesta, Gothenburg’s latest landmark and first WELL-certified building, Rejlers has created the office of the future. As one of Scandinavia’s leading technical consultancy companies, Rejlers wanted to future-proof their new offices with the aim to create flexible modern working spaces for their employees and customers.

“The office was already equipped with an existing system, but we wanted a more flexible system suited to our requirements” explains Nicklas Stenberg, Assignment leader/team leader at Rejlers in Gothenburg. “That’s why we chose Helvar! Their wireless system, ActiveAhead, impressed us with its flexibility and ease of use. We still wanted to use wired solutions for some parts of the office, like corridors and other fixed features, because that’s the best option in those cases.”
Helvar’s 950 Multi-master Application Controller was installed to do just this, control the corridors and fixed parts of the office, while ActiveAhead-enabled luminaires were installed in the open spaces. The luminaires are all also equipped with ActiveTune. A QR code that allows the user to control their own personal light above the desk via a Helvar app. With the hybrid way of working and with hot desks being used, the employees can always have their preferred lighting wherever they choose to sit on a specific day.
Rejlers in Gothenburg is also the world’s first project to use Helvar’s latest Senses solution. Senses is the next evolutionary step in adding environmental sensing to Helvar’s offering and is directly focused on delivering better buildings that provide the best experience for occupants with much lower emissions. Unique benefits only possible with Helvar.
“Helvar Senses is a motion detector or presence sensor that not only detects movement but can also detect sound, carbon dioxide levels, temperature, VOCs, and much more to be able to integrate several systems into one” explains Tommy Lindholm, Sales Manager West in Sweden.
Helvar Senses empowers clients to unlock the full potential of their buildings, allowing high-performance, sustainable spaces with the best occupant experience. By measuring a wide range of environmental conditions and providing valuable reports and recommendations, Helvar Senses allows buildings to continuously improve and adapt throughout their lifetime.

Nicklas Stenberg continues: “It’s a very good product! Helvar Senses is somewhat standalone even though it’s linked to Helvar. Since larger properties have BMS systems, they become complex. We have the opportunity to control things ourselves with total simplicity. In projects that we are currently working on they have these huge BMS systems, with Helvar Senses the occupants now have the opportunity to control certain things themselves, and this can be achieved without having to go into these large-scale systems.”

Helvar Senses provides a wealth of data about how buildings are used, which, once refined and visualised through Helvar’s innovative Insights-platform, can help to guide strategic decisions in building operations and investments. By leveraging tangible data, spaces can be intelligently optimised without negatively impacting indoor conditions for space users.
“The advantage of realizing real-time data is that you can confirm an experience or have a discussion if it’s just an experience. This is a great advantage, but you can also use data in conversation with the property owner, and the more data you have, the better you can modify the property” says Jan Bengtsson, Business Unit Manager at Rejlers.

“We are facing exciting times here at Rejlers as these intelligent solutions come to life. Such synergy is really helping to drive both energy efficiency and optimise well-being for users at the same time!”
