Going for Gold with a lighting renovation

PZ Cussons’ 20,000 sq. ft office was renovated to focus on employee wellbeing and utilises smart technologies to facilitate hybrid working and worldwide connectivity.

Originally constructed in 2010, PZ Cussons’ global HQ in Manchester went through a complete refurbishment during the UK COVID-19 lockdown with minimal disruption to staff. Designed to suit flexible working habits, the office breathes a new lease of life with a contemporary look, the addition of a new central break-out space and standalone meeting pods installed throughout the office. The workplace was designed to target the International WELL Building Institute (IWBI) Gold certification and recently won the ESG Workplace Award by the British Council for Offices at the 2022 North West Property Awards.

A key focus of the project was to provide sustainable and efficient lighting that best suits the needs of employees, whether that be focusing, socialising, or collaborating.

The existing Helvar Imagine system was updated to include our 910 application controllers, and the whole system was reconfigured and commissioned to suit new sustainable and wellbeing-focused lighting throughout. The system provides energy-saving features via presence detection and daylight harvesting, with further automation being achieved through scheduled events. In addition, the Helvar system was integrated with the AV system at IP level, providing seamless connectivity for a variety of purposes.

The project was completed at the end of 2021, with staff moving into their new modern office space in January 2022.
