Revolutionising Healthcare Lighting: A Smart and Energy-Efficient Solution for Hospitals
Olomouc University Hospital is one of the largest in-patient hospitals in the Czech Republic and belongs to a network of nine university hospitals directly controlled by the Ministry of Health of the Czech Republic. It is the largest medical facility in the Olomouc Region and the sixth largest hospital in the country. Implemented by our partner, DNA Central Europe s.r.o, the modular architecture of the lighting control system employed provides solutions ranging from individual hospital beds, rooms, and corridors to the entire hospital infrastructure.
Seamlessly integrating with other technologies allows for the creation of a streamlined solution within the building ecosystem. This approach ensures high operational efficiency by harmonising the functionalities of HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning), MaR (Monitoring and Regulation), and lighting and shading control.
Tailored lighting control is achieved through the implementation of the DALI protocol, a pivotal element of this system. Notably, this protocol enables the automatic adjustment of lighting intensity and direction within individual rooms, in response to external lighting conditions. This intelligent adjustment minimises artificial lighting energy consumption while maximising visual comfort. Central to this system is the control of colour temperature, which plays a crucial role in supporting the natural circadian rhythms of patients and staff throughout the day.
This technology’s primary benefit lies in its fully automated operation, requiring minimal intervention even during exceptional events, all while meeting the diverse needs of patients and staff.
In a bespoke lighting control system, timing is judiciously combined with occupancy monitoring. The system’s intricate digital management, down to the finest details, is facilitated through visualisation software accessible from the administrator’s premises. As a result, the building’s energy balance can be finely tuned and regulated at any time to optimally align with specific requirements.
