Revitalising Pilsen’s Tram Depot: A Bright Transformation with Sustainable Lighting Solutions

This marks the most extensive renovation in the recent history of Pilsen’s municipal transport companies, a project executed while the facility remained fully operational. The tram depot, in its original state since 1943, had become unsatisfactory in terms of both capacity and quality. The new depot’s passage halls stretch for 124 metres, accommodating up to 52 cars measuring 33 metres in length and 7 cars measuring 15 metres in length.

Beyond its enhanced functionality, the renovated structure boasts a positive environmental footprint, featuring a 13,500 m2 green roof and a rainwater retention system. However, due to the reduced number of skylights in green roofs, the hall is illuminated by energy-efficient LED lights.
For this particular project, DNA Central Europe s.r.o. supplied a comprehensive lighting control system alongside a central battery system for emergency lighting. Specifically, a DALI lighting control system was installed, leveraging Helvar Imagine DALI routers. A tailored lighting system visualization was installed for central monitoring and control, offering automatic fault reporting, energy consumption monitoring, and automated event scheduling. Remote access for service and programming is facilitated through the WEB server.
As part of the emergency lighting system with a central battery, DNA Central Europe s.r.o.provided the central battery system, inclusive of pictogram exit LED luminaires. In total, nearly 700 emergency luminaires are monitored across three buildings, including the administration area.
