Transforming history with innovation

Introducing one of the latest renovation projects in Milan, Italy: The Salone del Futuro in Palazzo Turati. The historical significance of the building required a solution that respected its external façade while accommodating the modern needs of the Milan Chamber of Commerce. Helvar’s long-standing Italian Partner, Elettroservice srl, provided a comprehensive lighting management and control system utilizing Helvar components, ensuring a hospitable and innovative interior space for employees and the public alike.

The Salone del Futuro, the focus of the current intervention, underwent various transformations from the 1920s to the 1990s to meet the evolving functional and representational needs of the institution. In the 1980s, substantial modifications to the roof resulted in the hall’s final configuration. The new Salone del Futuro was designed to address the Chamber of Commerce’s modern requirements in terms of construction and technology. The goal was to create contemporary reception spaces, improve architectural quality, and enhance the wellbeing conditions within the building.
Lighting played a crucial role in achieving the desired interior ambiance and functionality of the hall. The lighting project, developed in collaboration with the Politecnico di Milano, included a stretched false ceiling using Barrisol film and strategically positioned lighting fixtures corresponding to the reticular beams. Translucent film was stretched on square panels measuring 2.60×2.60 meters, allowing the passage of light and transforming the false ceiling into a captivating “luminous false ceiling.”
Elettroservice srl, in collaboration with Helvar, spearheaded the light management and control intervention in the hall. Helvar components were integrated into the lighting system, utilizing the DALI DT8 protocol. This enabled the management of lighting fixtures, allowing for color temperature adjustments and brightness intensity control.
The Salone del Futuro is managed by a centralized system controlled by two Helvar 910 routers, which oversee the lighting fixtures through the DALI bus. The system operates in regular mode with hourly programming, but users can also manually switch it on or off using a pushbutton panel. Additionally, the system allows for the creation, storage, and recall of different pre-set lighting scenarios across various graphical interfaces.
By utilizing Helvar components and collaborating with Elettroservice srl, the hall now boasts a modern, inviting, and innovative interior space. The lighting system’s flexibility and versatility, combined with the preserved historical facade, create an exceptional environment for both employees and the public, accommodating the evolving needs of the Milan Chamber of Commerce.
